Simply install the software, plug in the supplied cable to the receiver output and PC sound card to receive weatherfax pictures and forecasts from around the world. The software enables reception of weatherfax pictures, Radiotelex weather forecasts and Navtex. The HF3/W is complete with CD software and interface cable for connection to a PC sound card. The wind speed sensor is a rotary cup type unit manufactured in stainless steel and polycarbonate.
The receiver is supplied complete with a basic long wire antenna, 12 volt power cable and instruction book. Both the cup unit and the vane unit are wind driven. The instruments used to measure wind are known as anemometers and can record wind speed, direction and the strength of gusts. Make sure that all cups are facing the same direction. Now insert the other end of the wooden dowels into the other cups holes and tape them. Slide 2 wooden dowels through the holes in the center cup. The Target HF3/P has a fixed level audio output to connect to third party weatherfax software. The last cup will be the center of an anemometer, make 4 holes evenly spaced around the rim of the last cup.
